    Paletteful Packs – April 2022

This is the first Paletteful post after I changed the format of those posts a bit, so I hope it’s going to be easier for both the readers and me to go through it! 🙂 I spoiled myself the surprise before the box arrived because I was super curious about the contents this month! When I saw online what was inside I was excited about the challenge but also worried about how to tackle the media because they’re definitely not something I’m very familiar with. But, I was determined to do my best! CONTENTS Marabu YONO Paint Marker 6-Set  YONO stands for You Only Need One. This new opaque acrylic marker from Marabu works on almost any surface. Canvas or concrete. Glass or ceramic. Wood or plastic. Leather or fabric. The search for the right marker is finally over. Just go ahead and draw. Be creative. No matter what material.…

Revisiting my first paints – a horror story

Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well! I was recently invited to participate in a joint gallery with my past painting group! How cool is that?! I’m very excited about it because I haven’t participated in gallery shows for a long time now! It’s a big honour for me to be invited just like that AND by my past painting instructor! ❤️ To have a decent amount of artworks to hang at the exhibition, I’ve decided to finish two of my old, unfinished paintings that were staring at me every time I passed them (causing remorse). The thing is, the older painting I’ve started in 2019 before I switched to my current, mid-range paints that I actually really like (now I’m using Royal Talens Rembrandt acrylics, back then it was Renesans A’kryl). So, in order to finish the painting properly and make it look consistent, I had to…

    Paletteful Packs – January 2022

Wait, what? January 2021 box? But LW, it’s MARCH! Well, yes, I have a tiny delay 😀 There are 2 reasons for that. First of all, a lot was happening in my life throughout January, February and half of March so I was a bit too busy and a bit too stressed to focus on the blog. Another thing is – I got some suggestions to first create the art with the supplies and just then write about them so I already have my thoughts and opinions I can add to the post and that’s what I’ll try to do from now on. But since I couldn’t focus on more time-consuming art recently – the blog posts had to wait too. But, for the time being – I’m back, so let’s get to the point of the post! Contents Caran D’Ache Neocolor II Aquarelle Set of 10 All-Stabilo Water-Soluble Blue…

    Testing Phoenix Artist’s Palette

As expected, my Mijello palette lost its easy peel-off feature after a while, and because I don’t want to waste my time neither on scratching the paint off it nor on destroying my poor nails while doing it, recently I came back to my old “budget” setting (clipboard + white piece of paper + tracing paper) while looking for a new palette. I tried a small round paper palette earlier but after giving it a few tries I realized it’s just too small for me (size matters! 😉 ). I have to admit though I generally liked the idea of the easy cleaning (you just tear off the top sheet!) palette so I thought I could try out something similar but more matching the kind of palettes I’m used to, so rectangle and A3 size. Since  I was on an art supplies buying spree recently I decided to also add…

    Pencil eraser or Eraser pencil?

So what’s the difference between a pencil eraser and eraser pencil?Well, one is an eraser and the other one is… also an eraser. Just in a pencil form. And it’s pretty awesome! I bought one a while ago but never really used it seriously, only to test it out. But now as I’m trying to delve more into mixed media traditional art I needed to make a sketch and that’s when I discovered this awesomeness. The eraser (in) pencil I have is the simplest possible Koh-I-Noor Era eraser which it’s super cheap and, surprisingly, super good. It erases pencils really well and is extremely handy when you have to erase only a small detail and your regular big eraser would mess up the other details around. You may say it’s a special task eraser for demanding. I really have no words to express how much I’m in love with this…
