ESO Morrowind, Free Crates

Hi everyone, long time no see!

Due to, well… life, I’m less active here on the blog but I’m still alive, more or less, so yay! I did have a long-ish time of almost no gaming though, because I highly focused on art a while ago, but now I’m kind of doing the opposite so a lot of gaming and recently I saw and experienced something that made me come back here like OHMYGOD I HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT IT!

And this thing was… yes, Morrowind expansion of Elder Scrolls Online.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, Pretty town of Balmora

First of all, every time I talk about any RPG game, be it single player or MMO, I mention how it is important for me to make a believable, lore friendly and  interesting (at least for me!) story for my character. I need to know not only who the character is and becomes throughout the game, but also, who they were before, what made them land in the middle of the game’s events, what were they doing before, what did their life look like and so on.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, Crossroads in Vvardenfell

In ESO my character is a Dunmer, a dark elf, and by a noob mistake I made, she ended up in an alliance different than the default Dunmer alliance (the game has 3 of them). But I think it actually made the character’s story even richer. Going through the game with a dark elf surrounded by all the other races with barely any other dark elf was interesting, and then going to Vvardenfell, a big island belonging to Morrowind, the land of dark elves, and questing there, getting to know the culture, society, ah, what a great experience. Fortunately, I’m not even close to finishing the zone because I enjoy it a lot. Solving some family issues of local Dunmers also helped me very much with pushing my character’s personal story forward.

If I was playing any other race most of the internal Dunmer society issues probably wouldn’t be that interesting for me but the views… The views would be still the same breathtaking! I honestly do like the story in Morrowind so far, but it’s visible that it’s designers were working hard on the zone to make it as pretty as possible while still showing that it’s not exactly a very friendly environment with a huge and scary volcano in the middle of the island.

Morrowind music is just as great as its views. I love it a lot. Logging in to the game was a pure pleasure even when I didn’t have time to play but still wanted to listen to the main theme that was playing on the logging screen. Now, after Summerset expansion is live, the music has changed too, and I have to admit – even though Summerset music is still great, I actually preferred the Morrowind one. You can play a sample of the mentioned Morrowind logging and character pick screen music in the frame to the right. You may recognize it as an altered version of Dragonborn from Skyrim and you’d be right. But believe me, the original ESO: Morrowind music is just as good.

What else can I say? I absolutely love Morrowind. It’s interesting, pretty, has great music and, what’s the most important to me, it evokes emotions. It’s definitely one of my 2 favourite zones so far (the other one is Reaper’s March). As for the other expansions – I’m not sure yet which one is my favourite, Morrowind is the first one I decided to focus on, but I’ll keep you updated.

Free crates!

And, to finish this post even in an even better mood, a reminder: don’t forget to log in to ESO and kill at least one enemy this weekend to earn free Hollowjack Crates!

The official announcement of this event made me realize it will be my first Halloween with ESO soon and I’m very curious if there will be a whole event or only new items in the Crown Crates. I suspect it will only be items, unfortunately, but I’ll let you know if I learn anything new.
